โ™Ÿ You Don't Need to Become Someone Else to Succeed - You Need to Return to Who You Already Are

Dear Reader,

There is a particular kind of leader this article is for.

From the outside, your life may look functional - even successful. Youโ€™ve built capability, insight, and a level of awareness that others often come to you for. You understand complexity. You think deeply. You hold nuance.

And yet, internally, something does not match.

There is a quiet, persistent tension: A sense that who you are and how you are living, leading, and earning are not fully aligned. Not because you lack skill, nor is it because you lack vision. But rather, because somewhere along the way, you learned - subtly or explicitly - that you had to edit yourself to belong.

The Hidden Cost of Success Without Alignment

Many high-functioning leaders are operating with an invisible split. On one part, they have an External Identity that performs, delivers, and achieves; and on the other part, they have an Internal Self that feels constrained, unseen, or under-expressed.

This split creates a very specific kind of fatigue. Not burnout from doing too much. But exhaustion from holding yourself back while trying to move forward. You may notice this as:

  • Difficulty translating your depth into clear, paid work or higher performance and impact
  • Inconsistent financial flow despite real value
  • A sense of โ€œI know Iโ€™m capable of more, but something isnโ€™t clickingโ€
  • Physical tension, overthinking, or emotional depletion

This is not a strategy problem. In fact, you have may even have put in the outer infrastructure and plans that will allow your dreams to flourish. But even with that, nothing seems to actually be flourishing.

Rather - it is misalignment between your Internal state and your External expression.

What Does โ€œInternal Harmonyโ€ Actually Mean?

Internal harmony is not perfection or constant calm. It is the state where:

  • Your decisions reflect your values
  • Your actions are not driven by fear of rejection
  • Your body is not bracing against your own life

It feels like coherence. Instead of you pushing yourself forward, there is a sense of movement without internal resistance.

Somatic Wisdom

The Intelligence You Were Never Taught to Trust

Your body is not just reacting to your life - it is informing it. A lot of African wisdom resides in the embodiment of our true selves. Somatic wisdom is your ability to:

  • Notice contraction vs. openness
  • Recognise when something is off, even if it โ€œlooks rightโ€
  • Sense when you are grounded and aligned from within vs. performing for external validation.

For example:

  • Tightness in your chest when pricing your work โ†’ misalignment or fear
  • A sense of openness when speaking your truth โ†’ alignment

This is not abstract. It is data. Leaders who ignore this often override themselves into burnout. Leaders who integrate it make decisions that are both effective and sustainable.

Psychological Resilience (Beyond โ€œPushing Throughโ€)

True resilience is not about endurance.

It is your capacity to:

  • Stay connected to yourself under pressure
  • Recover without abandoning your values
  • Respond instead of react

It allows you to lead without losing yourself in the process.

Wealth Consciousness & Financial Flow

Wealth consciousness is not just mindset, it is your relationship to receiving, and as I found out, also asking. It shapes:

  • What you believe you are allowed to earn
  • Who you position yourself to serve
  • Whether you create opportunities, or wait for permission

When aligned, money begins to feel like flow, not force. Somatically, this often feels like:

  • Ease in your breath
  • Openness rather than contraction
  • A sense of circulation instead of scarcity
  • Excitement, joy and reconnection to past possibilities as you actively reignite what and who you have already been

When misaligned, it feels like:

  • Pressure
  • Hesitation
  • Inconsistent income despite effort
  • Internal collapse due to socio-cultural and other external expectations

The Core Distinction: Who You Are vs. Who You Were Conditioned to Be

Most people confuse these two. Here is the difference:

Your conditioned self:

  • Seeks approval
  • Minimises impact to stay safe
  • Prioritises belonging over truth

Your authentic self:

  • Feels internally clear, even if externally challenged
  • Experiences moments of ease, even in uncertainty
  • Does not require performance to feel valid

The body often knows the difference before the mind does. A lot of personal and professional development work out there, only focuses on the 5-15% part of your consciousness, i.e. your thinking and meaning making.

My work focuses on that as well as the 85-95% part, typically known as the subconscious layer. It presents in the conditioning in your body, behavior and actions.

And with that deep level of work, the superconscious - which is your true authentic self, deep with you, rises to fill the space that we would have cleared, of all the conditioning that no longer serves the purposeful path that you choose to now walk on.

Leading From Deep Purpose and From This Grounded Power

This is where everything integrates. The combined work of the conscious, subconscious and superconscious. Deep purpose is not just what you do. It is what you cannot not do. It has been consistent across time.

It never goes away. It is always there. Ready when you are ready to see, feel and bring it into your everyday life decisions. It feels inherent, not constructed. Real. Unwavering. Grounded power is your ability to act from that place:

  • Without the need to over-explain
  • Without shrinking
  • Without waiting for validation

It is not loud. It is stable, clear, and self-trusting.

Bringing It All Together

As you can see, this work is not about adding more. It is about removing what is in the way of:

  • Your clarity
  • Your expression
  • Your ability to receive

When you bring your mind, body, and purpose into alignment, something shifts:

  • Your communication becomes precise
  • Your presence becomes felt
  • Your work becomes undeniable
  • Your income becomes a reflection of your alignment, not your effort alone

If You Recognise Yourself Here

You are not early. You are not behind. You are at the point where:

> Internal awareness must translate into external reality.

The Next Step

If you recognise this gap, where your internal clarity is not fully reflected in your external results, this is the work I do. I work with a small number of leaders at a time in a focused 90-day engagement to stabilise decision-making, elevate communication, and align income with their actual capacity.

If that resonates, you can apply to work with me here:

If you prefer to begin independently, you can start with the self-led foundation here:

You have done everything right. And still, something essential is missing. This newsletter is for leaders who sense that the gap between who they are on the outside and who they know themselves to be on the inside is the most important territory they have not yet explored. Relational and Narrative Translation of the Strategy moves the strategy from abstraction into actual day to day implementation reality for each and everyone in the organization. It requires understanding how different people make sense of the strategy in

Dear Reader, Most of the strategy execution failures I have worked with are, at their root, Translation Failures. The leadership team may have a clear and shared understanding of the direction, but that understanding has not been translated into something the different teams can actually follow. But solving it requires something different from a better implementation framework. It requires the leadership team to do the work of genuinely inhabiting the strategy, to be able to speak to it, live...

As a leader, you directly and indirectly influence the team and the organization. The question is, is your influence positive or negative?

Dear Reader, There is a line I return to often in my work with senior leadership teams: What leadership cannot hold does not disappear. It gets carried by the people below the leadership line. Always. You may already feel this in your organisation, not in the performance numbers, which are broadly fine, but in something harder to name. A heaviness. A tiredness in capable people that the results do not explain. A sense that the organisation is working harder than it should have to, to produce...
