🧶 What is INTRApreneurship?

INTRApreneurship is about running You, your Department, and Team - or even if you do not have a team to lead - running your own Desk and Role, as a Business.

It starts with You creating Clarity in the Purpose, Vision, Mission activities, Values and Implementation plan (i.e. the 5 key elements of an Actionable Strategy) for your role, department, and each team member.

Clarity in all 5 elements of your Actionable Strategy, makes sure that you are not waiting for someone to tell you what to do, because Clarity has been established from the word go, and is called for, at every turn.

🌿 Why Does Clarity Matter to Your Joy, Genius, and Growth?

1. Clarity of the Actionable Strategy, creates plenty of room for you, your team and or department, to hone in on your skills and talents, in relation to the clarified tasks at hand
2. Clarity of activities, creates Flow in your work, allowing you more time to find effective and efficient ways to carry out your duties
3. Flow, as well researched and scientifically supported, enhances your creativity, as you tap into your skillset and talent to create innovative ways to deliver on expected results
4. The more opportunities you have to use your skillsets and talent, the more Creative you become.
5. The more Creative you become, the more Joy is enhanced, as you engage with more of what you can bring to the table.
6. A sense of OWNERship is created because you are engaging in both parts of your whole brain.
7. The more Engaged one is, with a clear purpose and vision in mind, the more tailored their performance, leading to higher impact and higher ROI. People + Performance = Higher ROI.

This is what Conscious Businesses are here for: making sure that their People are engaged, through Clarified Connection, because they know that this enhances Performance, and with that, a higher ROI for all stakeholders, i.e. customers, staff, investors, leaders, etc.

🧲 Two Paths, One Purpose: INTRA vs ENTREpreneurship Through the Soul’s Lens

In ENTREpreneurship:

1. You are creating something - a product, and or a service.
2. You offer it to your ideal defined clients
3. You market and sell these offerings to your clients in a way that resonates with them,
4. And in ways that also feed into your personal, professional and business needs.
5. You are clear on the purpose, vision, mission activities, values and implementation plan to make all the above possible
6. The business venture is yours. You created it. You are in charge of it.
7. In INTRApreneurship, the business venture is someone else's.

❤️‍🔥 Align Your Work With Who You Truly Are

Being an INTRA- or an ENTREpreneur, is not about waiting for another to influence who you are, because through the clarity that you have of yourself; you know why you are here, and what you need to do to be aligned in all respects.

For more meaning and purpose to the work you do as an INTRA or ENTREpreneur, make sure that your life purpose, values, principles, personal, professional and business goals and targets, match the work you do. Why?

Because your role as an INTRA or ENTREpreneur, by virtue of it being a TITLE, serves your life purpose, not the other way round. Your Life Purpose is not a role, it is not a title, it is who you truly are as guided by your SOUL.

🔴 When Clarity Meets Soul: A Lived Example of INTRApreneurship in Action

I was the head of Qualitative Research about a decade ago for a local NGO funded by international donor organizations. As head of this part of the department, I made sure that the 5 main elements that make an actionable strategy were clear. These elements were:

1. The purpose of my role in this department
2. The vision, what we want to achieve in this part of department by end of the year, in relation to the other departments and the organization as a whole.
3. The actual mission activities we needed to action in each quarter, month and week of this year, to achieve this vision.
4. Our values and how are we going to embody, not just memorize them in the way we carry out these mission activities.
5. The resources we currently had to accomplish the mission activities in the designated time. Resources included personnel and all their related costs (salary, gadgets, work material etc...), financial costs to run the department, knowledge, information, time etc...This became the implementation plan.

🥏 From Silo to Synergy: How Inner Clarity Transforms Outer Communication

All this information was available in a shared document that everyone in the department, and other related departments could access at any time. In addition, I placed all this information on a large manila paper, and pasted it on a wall in my office. This level of clarity and transparency enhanced:

• Communication amongst each other was easier to execute, as the conversations were centered on the agreed and transparent implementation plan. This allowed room for diverse expression.
• Communication with all relevant departments was clear and direct as the implementation plan was the guiding tool.
• Performance evaluations were straightforward and targeted, because everyone had a document to refer back to
• Reporting in meetings and or on paper became easier, faster, efficient and effective
• The department became even more innovative and creative in the way we worked toward our targets each month, because flow was created
• Work stopped being a thing I had to do, but something tangible I could actively, effectively and efficiently contribute to

👷🏽 Inter-departmental communication enhanced, contributing to the reduction of siloed actions. For example:

1. Because we knew what we needed to accomplish tasks, when sending purchase orders to the purchasing department, we had clear justifications and we knew the ROI of each order in relation to the purpose of the department and the purpose of the organization
2. Because we knew the ROI of each item, we also made sure to use them effectively and efficiently; so we could report back to the suppliers.
3. Because we knew how much our department was costing in financial terms, we focused on being even more creative on our way to increasing more revenue, reducing expenses, and therefore increasing ROI
4. Because we were clear on all of these, we indirectly up-leveled the other departments, because through our clear questions and communications, they had to be clear in their answers as well.

🚚 The Genius of Soul-Aligned Systems: Practical Wisdom in Motion

1. Each mission activity has a clear purpose
2. You can use it to track progress at any time during the year
3. It makes it easier to pivot when needed, for example during world events like pandemics, economic instability etc...
4. You can use it to pivot during organizational change management
5. You can see where there are gaps and where you can enhance progress on the go
6. You can adjust resources to where they are needed most, and at different times of the year
7. There is clarity and transparency as you go along, making it easier for you and everyone to focus on the work at hand, because everyone is clear on what is expected of them
8. Report writing becomes easier because everything is clear for you and all those involved
9. Clarity is the golden key to all we can do with the success we expect

🆎 Flow Follows Clarity: How Purpose Unlocks Creativity, Innovation, and Impact

Improving on your skills in relation to the work at hand, and the changing environment which is becoming more AI and technologically advanced, is important to the sustainability of your businesses and how you operate them.

Roles are changing as a result and so the more we up-level your skills, the better able you are to serve your customers and clients, who are also exposed to the changing times.

Creating flow in our business, through clarity reduces confusion, increases trust, and enhances collaboration. Confusion slows down progress, and makes the brain work harder, which means quality of output is reduced.

Becoming even more creative and innovative, enhances not only the quality of care you have in the way you produce and or provide client services, but enhances the experience of both you as the provider and the receiver of your services.

🤲🏼 In Essence: INTRApreneurship is a Sacred Return to Self Your Through Work

To enhance the experience you have at work:

• Define your purpose, your values and your principles. Be absolutely clear on these.
• See your role, department and or team as a 'small business' within the larger business.
• Enhance the purpose and vision of your role, department and or team, with that of the whole organization.
• Explore how you can align your values, principles and purpose to the business. If there is absolutely no alignment, this is a reflection point. Ask yourself:
  • How long have you been compromising on your values?
  • How long do you want to continue compromising on your values?
  • Is there something that can be done so that you are not compromising on your values?
  • If you are adhering to the values of the organization to the detriment of your own, where does that leave you?
  • What do you want to do? What can you make feasible so you are not compromising on your own values?

This is INTRApreneurship in action: you are not just going to work for the sake of going to work - you are involved in the Business. Should you want to eventually want to move to ENTREpreneurship, this level of engagement, sets you up with a strong foundation that is consistent with highly strategic business outcomes.
